Max Gill-Engel and Charlie Smith have joined the agency from Grey London

The Gate, the global creative agency, has hired creative team Max Gill-Engel and Charlie Smith from Grey London.

Max and Charlie cut their teeth on Tony Cullingham's famous Watford course. They went on to join Grey in 2016, and have since been responsible for campaigns across a number of blue-chip brands, including Vodafone, Pringles, Lucozade, BirdsEye and Braun.

Lucas Peon, chief creative officer at The Gate, said: "We couldn't be more excited to welcome Max and Charlie into the team. They are two hugely talented and ambitious creatives, with a unique point of view and a fantastic style. We can't wait to see them influence and push our creative product."

Max Gill-Engel and Charlie Smith added: "We were very impressed with the work that has been coming out of The Gate. Work such as 'Sex Never Gets Old' for Replens and 'Nobody is Normal' for Childline, are campaign that aren’t only popular with juries but, most importantly, with audiences across the UK and around the world."

The appointment follows The Gate’s most successful awards run so far, winning three D&AD Pencils, five Cannes Lions, five Creative Circle awards and most recently four Kinsale Sharks.
