Charlotte, North Carolina, is gearing up for a Memorial Day weekend filled with major sports events, including the Coca-Cola 600 race, a Charlotte FC vs. Philadelphia Union match, and the Meck Mile road race.
To celebrate the powerhouse sports community of Charlotte, The Charlotte Sports Foundation today announces The Queen City Parlay, developed in partnership with local ad agency, Luquire. The Queen City Parlay bands together the three events in tandem with the launch of legalised sports betting across the state.
But this isn’t your typical parlay. Unlike bets through gaming partners, this parlay is completely free to enter and keenly focused on charitable donations rather than personal gain. Luquire created a 'betting ticket' where participants select a winning choice from each of the aforementioned sporting events for a chance to win prizes.
In honour of Memorial Day, each of the partners will provide $1 per entry to a local veterans focused non-profit, Veterans Bridge Home, connecting veterans and their families with local resources to assist with transitioning into civilian life. The website to participate is live here, with campaign rollouts across social in the coming days.
“Charlotte has emerged as a hub of live sports during Memorial Day weekend and we wanted to find a way to celebrate that,” said Danny Morrison, executive director of CSF. “We hope fans can catch all the action, but no matter who you’re cheering for, something we can all get behind is betting on our city while raising money for the men and women who keep us safe. The more we play, the more they win!”
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Charlotte Sports Foundation to bring three major sports events together for a good cause,” said Brent Schmid, account supervisor at Luquire. “The Queen City Parlay is a great way for sports fans to support a local cause while enjoying these exciting events in a city known for its sporting community.”
