Kim Lawrie, previously the head of creative and emerging tech at House 337 (formerly the Engine Group) has joined The Beyond Collective as its new group head of technology to lead technology, AI and innovation across the Group.
Kim will report directly to Nicholas Ost, co-founder of The Beyond Collective, and will work across all client projects and agencies within the group, which include Above+Beyond, Yonder Media, Frontier Strategy & Collective Studios. In the role, Kim will bring together the latest in AI, technology, service design and breakout innovations to enhance the Group’s capabilities and ways of working. In addition, she will support clients of The Beyond Collective looking to integrate technology solutions into their own marketing operations, products and services.
During her time at House 337 and the Engine Group, Kim contributed to several award winning campaigns, including the standout Long Live the Prince campaign for the Kiyan Prince Foundation, which landed the Cannes Titanium Grand Prix in 2022. Other notable work she has delivered includes Jaegermeister’s Save the Night campaign, the E.ON Lungs campaign, and innovation projects with Santander, Sky, the RAF, Red Bull, and many other major brands.
Kim has been widely recognized for her contributions to the industry, having been named on the IPA’s iList, as Next Generation Leader of the Year at the 2021 Women in IT Awards, and included on the BIMA 100: Tech Trailblazer list in both 2020 and 2021. Her accolades also include being shortlisted for the Oystercatchers Spotlight in November 2020, and recognized among CreativePool’s Top 100 Creative Industry Influencers in 2020.
Kim is an active advocate for minority groups, having co-founded and directed EmpowerHack, a global volunteer design and technology collective to support refugee women and girls. As an autistic person she is a prolific public speaker on the topic of neurodivergence, having contributed to the D&AD’s Annual as a Top Voice in 2023, as well as gracing the stage everywhere from the IPA to the D&AD Festival of Creativity.
Kim originally worked as a creative director, but after a career shift she later served as the head of creative and emerging technology at Engine Creative, a role she continued in when Engine Creative and Odd rebranded as House 337. She now focuses on bringing together the best of both the creative and technology worlds to push boundaries in how brands and their audiences interact.
Nic Ost, co-founder at The Beyond Collective said, “What a force for the future Kim is. We’re so pleased to have her join the Collective so we can use all the advantages technology brings to our people and work, as we integrate our services and help make our clients’ brands fit and fresh for tomorrow.”
Kim Lawrie said, ““We’re on the cusp of a second wave of AI that means that businesses will have to fundamentally change how they run, so I’m really looking forward to being part of an agency team that’s nimble, agile and can pivot at speed. In my view it’s the smaller companies with an innovation-first leadership that are going to thrive and survive in this new world, who can make strong strategic decisions and who care about what clients want rather than clinging on religiously on how to get there.”
