That's better. That's Tetley.

With lines such as “Tetley make tea bags make tea” and “That’s better. That’s Tetley”, the Yorkshire tea brand are a stalwart of advertising folklore. Their Tea Folk characters are some of the industry’s most nostalgic characters.

So, when agency Creature and director Randy Krallman of Smuggler approached Glassworks about bringing the Tetley Tea Folk bang up to date, we were thrilled to get on board.

The result is a delightfully light-hearted spot, which sees our old favourites Gaffer, Sydney and Tina defusing an alien invasion with their self-effacing tea making.  It’s great to see the old gang back together again.

It’s a new approach for Tetleys and our team of animators set to work with aplomb. Not only did they have the chance to create a modern look for some advertising heritage (combining CG with hand-animation techniques), they also got to create an alien invasion. It was an animator’s dream. Our 3D team, led by Matt Lowery, worked closely with the creatives at Creature and director Randy to get the look, feel and tone of this commercial just right.
