Using everything from wind and temperature simulations to audio-visual installations, Swedavia has created a climate portal at Arlanda Airport. This will be the first airport in the world to provide visitors with the real time experience of conditions from various places around the world.
Imagine stepping into a room and instantly feel the warm breeze of Moroccan heights. This will most certainly offer a rather unconventional experience while at the same time provide you with crucial facts for bringing the right necessities in your hand luggage.
"With the climate portal we wanted to explore the possibilities of not just taking you to your destination, but our destinations to you. A direct link to the whole world," says Michael Persson Gripkow, marketing director at Swedavia.
The Climate Portal explores destinations through several senses: sight, hearing and touch. The installation is connected to weather services online with measuring stations worldwide and it translates data to the three physical rooms: Hot, Cold and Big.
