Stink Director CD Morrish expertly juxtaposes physical and industrial power to beautifully capture the strength and intelligence of adidas’ SPEEDFACTORY for Stink Studios. Launched in December 2015, adidas’ SPEEDFACTORY uses automated manufacturing to bring production to where the consumer is, creating high-performance sporting goods faster than ever before. After initial success in Germany, multiple SPEEDFACTORIES are now to be launched across the globe: London, Paris, NYC, LA, Tokyo and Shanghai.
Chosen for his atmospheric visuals and intelligent use of audio, Morrish once again creates a film that is emotionally stimulating, displaying a depth and awareness that captures a visually beautiful filmic experience. Juxtaposing imagery of runners with clips of machinery, Morrish overlaps and joins the two with audio clips that reference the ability and aim of the brand. Shot in Germany, across two locations (factory: Ansbach and Running: Berlin), over five days on a Red Helium camera this grainy and edgy black and white demonstrates Morrish’s advanced skills as storyteller; possessing a human awareness that enables him to visually capture a scenario, thought, feeling and effectively set that against the goals and ambitions of the brand.
The film was released online in France last night at 6pm and will roll out across all other markets (London, Paris, NYC, LA, Tokyo and Shanghai) in the next few months alongside consumer activations (Pop-Ups) in each of the territories.
