Stella's 'Sandman' Receives Finishing Touch from Finish

‘Sandman’, the third film in Stella Artois’ ‘Perfectionist’ campaign completed by Finish, was released ahead of the prestigious golfing event The Open Championship. Indy8 director Edward Houston’s humorously sinister spot follows on from two previous ads which look at at sporting events from the perfectionists’ perspective.

Having already worked on ‘Rufus - The Real Hawk Eye’ and ‘The Fastest Stringer in the West’ ahead of Wimbledon, the attention now turns to Craig Gilholm, Head Greenkeeper at Royal Liverpool golf club. Focusing on the construction of the perfect sand-trap, rather than the golfing action itself, highlights the meticulous nature of the perfectionist who lingers behind the scenes of one of the world’s top sporting events. 

A voice-over narrates the green-keeper’s painstaking work in crafting Medusa, a sand-trap geared towards destroying the hopes of those competing at this years Open. Beautiful shots of the terrain accompany the spot’s dark humour, which ends with the sandman capturing his prey, and illustrates the dedication it takes to create perfection.
