Sonia Magri has been named the new chief creative officer of DDB Group Italy. She will take over responsibilities from Niccoló Arletti, who has been CEO of the Group since 2019.
During her time at DDB, Sonia has held several roles that have been crucial to the agency’s success, including head of client services, operations director and most recently she spent four years as general manager with responsibility for the agency’s new business function.
Glen Lomas, global president and chief operating officer, DDB Worldwide, said, “Sonia has all the credentials we look for in a CEO and as an experienced member of the leadership team at DDB Group Italy, the decision to appoint her as its next leader was never in doubt. Working alongside chief creative officer, Luca Cortesini, and CFO and COO, Alessandro Gesmundo, I believe DDB Group Italy has the best possible team to solidify its place as the best agency in Italy and beyond.”
Sonia says, “DDB is a one-of-a-kind agency that has been able to renew itself over the years whilst staying true to its ambitions to be number one in the world for creativity and effectiveness. The agency wouldn’t be what it is without its great people, which we will continue to invest in over the coming months.”
Luca Cortesini, chief creative officer at DDB Group Italy, added: “I have already walked alongside Sonia at DDB, and so I am familiar with her intelligence, tenacity and knowledge. Above all I know how much she cares about the culture, the people who cultivate it with strength and determination, and the clients who rely on it. I have no doubt that as CEO, she will continue to lead us in the right direction.”
