Soldats Welcomes Joris Bacquet as a New Director

Joris is a versatile visual artist, renowned for his boundless creativity and multifaceted talents. His ability to navigate through various mediums and techniques has led him to collaborate with prestigious brands such as Issey Miyake, Dior, Guerlain, Orange, Renault, and many others.

What sets Joris apart is his early commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence in the realm of artistic creation. Before AI applications became mainstream, Joris was already exploring the possibilities offered by this innovative technology. 

Notably, he created a narrative music video assisted by AI, "Infinity." The film invites viewers to contemplate the role of the 'creator' in the context of new technologies. His work has received recognition with three nominations at the Berlin Commercial Awards (in the categories of 'Best Idea,' 'Best Music Video,' and 'Best Direction'). 

Recently, with 'Become a Monster', a commissioned film by a world leading brand, Joris created an aspirational film though an experimental approach with AI.

As an artist, Joris does not limit himself to technique alone. For him, the concept, whether visual or narrative, forms the cornerstone of his work, both in personal and professional projects. He views AI as a medium among others, a tool that allows him to explore new frontiers of creativity, both visually and narratively.

In his own words, "AI is, to me, just another medium. A medium with which I push the boundaries a little further, be it visually, creatively, or narratively. I do not use it for technical recognition. Technique for the sake of technique does not interest me. I have more of a visual researcher's approach; I like to experiment, 'tinker.' I embrace the idea of being creatively off the beaten path. I prefer the uncharted territory."
