Street food vendors across the country are proud to serve their communities– oftentimes with authentic food influenced by their culture and heritage. Yet safety has become a concern as they sell into the evening hours.
Sol, the Mexican lager inspired by the sun, is shining a light on the issue (literally) with the launch of SOLar Umbrellas, first-of-its-kind solar-powered umbrellas designed to shine a light on street vendors’ carts, their food, culture and impact to the community, while creating a better sense of safety.
Sol’s SOLar Umbrellas provide UV protection during the day and ample lighting throughout the night, to provide vendors an easy-to-mount and portable option that helps keep them safe.
This campaign was created by alma, the the Miami-based creative shop best known for groundbreaking campaigns like Better with Pepsi, Netflix’s Spanish Lessons and Coors Light Iceman to Canto.
In addition to providing SOLar Umbrellas to local street food vendors across the L.A. metro area, Sol is donating to Accion Opportunity Fund, a non-profit that provides financial support for Latino-owned businesses. A portion of all donations will go towards helping Latino-owned food street vendors with challenges they face on a daily basis.
