ESPN has released new ads in a new integrated campaign from 72andSunny New York that focusses on the power of watching live sports. Featuring a series of films, digital and social elements, the campaign shows the urgency of ESPN’s live content and how other media – like social or streaming movies – can wait.
In a 30-second spot, titled “Oversharing,” a man snaps food pictures to share on his social media accounts when he realises that his #sandwich isn’t very unique at all - unlike Scott Van Pelt’s real-time sharing on SportsCenter @ Night. In another spot, titled “Your Queue,” a woman flips through her movie queue, contemplating her options based on the platform’s algorithm. But when she realises her team is about to play a potentially historic game on ESPN, the decision is clear -- unlike a movie, the game is happening right then and not watching means she’ll be left out. The campaign emphasises, that unlike live sports, these routine activities can happen anytime, while ESPN is happening right now.
