The rebrand pivots around new mission to ‘Make Social Better’

Social Element, the global social media agency, today announced a new brand positioning and visual identity for a new era, in tandem with a restructured leadership team. In an effort to further adapt to the evolving needs of clients, a dynamic agency landscape, and the agency’s broader goal of making social media infinitely better, the refresh reinforces its longstanding commitment to help brands communicate more effectively, safely and authentically with people everywhere.

“As the industry continues to evolve, we recognise that now is the right moment to recalibrate our brand,” says Shahnaz Ahmed, director of creative and innovation at Social Element. “Our rebrand is an opportunity to realign our agency with the shifting needs of our clients in real time, while also proactively embracing joy and versatility, as we double down on our commitment to making social a better place for everyone.”

The rebrand, pivoting around their new mission to ‘Make Social Better’ draws inspiration from social elements that form part of everyone’s digital world, featuring a cohesive visual identity that includes:

  • A new logo design. The new logo embodies adaptability, community and fun. Its design draws inspiration from familiar digital elements of different social formats for differing social platforms, alluding to Social Element’s versatility in any environment.
  • Font and typography.

Leveraging 'Plus Jakarta Sans' for its balanced, open, and genuine appeal, complemented by 'Source Serif 4' for versatility and grounding–although seemingly small, it provides a balance to speak in different tones and voices.

The SE team are also working with the Plus Jakarta Sans type foundry, Tokotype, to create a custom version of the font called ‘Social Element Sans’ to really bring it closer to the joyful socially-inspired brand

  • Colour palette. It introduces vibrant hues such as custom named 'Green Screen' and 'Blue Light' to reflect digital vibrancy and differentiation.
  • Motion Graphics. The dynamic motion graphics capture the fluidity and versatility of social media interactions, reflecting the agency's adaptive spirit.
  • Brand voice and architecture. Social Element's revamped brand voice emphasizes authenticity, empathy, and innovation, aimed at resonating with diverse audiences across global markets. Through a nuanced tone, the agency seeks to empower brands to connect with their audiences in meaningful ways while fostering a safer and more inclusive online environment.

Along with the rebrand, the agency is implementing a strategic leadership update, with the appointment of Ashley Cooksley and Linn Frost as global co-CEOs. Founder Tamara Littleton will assume the role of executive chair, empowering both Frost and Cooksley to continue to drive the agency’s future, with a stated desire to reach into new verticals and sectors.

“Combined, Linn and Ashley bring a wealth of expertise and shared vision for the future of Social Element,” said Tamara Littleton. “I’ve seen first hand just how dedicated and progressive they are, and firmly believe that I could not entrust the future growth of our agency into any better hands than theirs. They are the exact right humans our agency needs as we continue our drive forward, and I cannot wait to celebrate their continued success.”
