For each of Sony's 'For the Music' campaign films, Jedidah M. has taken an introspective look into each featured artist's relationship with music. The second film in the series spotlights DJ and singer Eliza Rose, who made waves in the music scene in 2022 with her viral hit, 'B.O.T.A (Baddest of Them All),' the defining anthem of that summer.
Now, two years after her meteoric rise, Eliza pauses to reflect. Jedidah M.'s film guides us through the influences that have shaped Eliza's identity, taking us through her East London neighbourhood to explore where it all began. We stomp along rain-soaked canals towards to Ridley Road Market, before finally flicking through vinyl records at Dalston's Eldica Records.
Growing up surrounded by a rich mix of cultures and sounds deeply influenced Eliza's musical style and identity. As she retraces her steps, it's clear that these early experiences continue to inspire her. The film beautifully captures the interplay between nostalgia and looking ahead, as Eliza revisits her roots in order to step forwards into her future.
