London-based editing house Shift Post has today announced its expansion, with the addition of Laurence Halstead and Chris Coupland to the editing roster. With new headquarters in Shoreditch, the expansion reflects an exciting era for the editing house as it continues to create award-winning work for some of the world’s leading directors.
Starting as a solo venture from editor Saam Hodivala during lockdown in early 2021, Shift Post aims to bring a new level of creativity to the editing process through a highly collaborative ethos. Saam, who honed his craft for 15 years at Work Editorial before founding Shift Post, couldn’t be happier to be expanding his team. He says, “I started with the dream of attracting talent who are passionate about making fun and vibrant work. To begin with it was just me and my assistant Adam, but when Kirsty Oldfield joined as EP at the end of last year, she rolled up her sleeves and got to work moving things forward.”
Kirsty, who previously worked as an EP at Stitch, now helms the business alongside Saam, managing the day-to-day running of the cutting rooms. She comments, “joining Shift Post has been such a brilliant opportunity to get in at the start of a new company with someone who is at the top of their craft. With Laurence and Chris on board now too, it just makes things even more exciting. I’m looking forward to some great work from our talented team, it’s a very fun new chapter.”
Bolstering the roster of talented editors, Laurence Halstead and Chris Coupland now join with the goal of adding a new dimension to the work that Shift Post creates.
Laurence joins the team as an experienced editor with an impressive body of work spanning commercials, music videos and documentaries. He has a skill for dynamic, VFX-led work, cutting with the likes of directors Zac Ella and Jake Dypka. He comments, “I’ve been following Saam’s work for a while now. Its distinctive brand of humour really strikes a chord with me so it’s a dream being asked to join their growing roster. I’m really excited for what’s to come!”
Starting out as a VFX Editor at MPC working on major features such as ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Quantum of Solace’, Chris made the transition to offline editing. With a natural flair for cutting comedy, Chris has worked on commercials with directors such as Thomas Ormonde and Dan Castella on campaigns for Just Eat, Coca-Cola and Google. Chris comments, “When Saam and Kirsty approached me to join Shift Post I jumped at the opportunity. The pedigree of work they do was a huge draw for me, it’s the kind of place I’ve wanted to work at for years and I feel incredibly lucky to be joining them now.”
