Combine the sheer beauty of Indonesia, cinematic shots of the culture, and way of life of over 18,000 islands and you get this visually stunning piece for Dji Sam Soe via JWT. Directed by Jan Wentz and produced by Seven Sunday Films, “Tue Indonesian Soul” delves into the country’s urbanity and takes viewers on a spectacular, spiritual journey.
The spot opens by panning over the vast horizon of Indonesia’s scattered islands and dives head first into the country’s culture. Ranging from the beautiful beaches and mountains to tribal gatherings and the intricate craft of carving wood, “True Indonesian Soul” truly proves what the land has to offer.
For director Jan Wentz, there’s no better way to experience Indonesia than to personally explore and marvel at the many locations on offer.
“There are so many unexplored locations that can enrich any production,” Wentz explained. “This project was physically tough with travelling to capture all the shots, but the production support from Seven Sunday Films was incredible. They made every aspect of the shoot effortless and fun,” he added.
Director of Photography Stuart Graham agrees, stating: “My experience shooting in Indonesia was excellent. The vast diversity both visually and culturally within the country is so intriguing to me and truly amazing.”
“The only difficulty was trying to capture the essence of all 18,000 islands into the one spot – there’s really no way to do the country justice in just a couple minutes,” Graham added.
Producer from Quad (Paris), Gil Kenny, said: "Indonesia's incredible scenery and the level of professionalism delivered by the Seven Sunday Films crew made my experience great. They ensured production ran smoothly despite tough logistics."
