Über Content is pleased to announce director Scott Pickett will be joining the production company’s multifaceted roster. Scott’s mix of classically beautiful storytelling and understated comedic performance has taken him across commercial, film and television formats.
With wit that is both razor-sharp and relatable, Pickett’s unique directorial voice complements the diverse, genre-spanning talents on Über’s roster. He finds filmic inspiration in the passions and foibles of ordinary people, allowing him to bring a sense of honesty and authenticity to his broad range of comedic and dramatic work. “In the end, though,” he says, “it's really about finding the most inventive approach to best serve the idea.”
Scott is known for bringing top brands to Australian television with over 50 humour-driven campaigns for the likes of McDonalds, Skittles, and Coco-Cola. His commercial work has been met with international praise, including a Gold Clio and Bronze One Show for Aldi “Mamia”, and a Cannes Bronze Lion for Lambassador, as well as being honoured with the esteemed Gold Promax Award for “Entrepreneur of the Year” via Ernst and Young.
Scott’s catalogue extends to long-form TV and short films, having recently shot 3 episodes of The Moodys in Australia, as well as the sketch show, The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting. Last year, Scott co-wrote and directed a short film titled, “The One Who Broke Your Heart,” which is currently making rounds on the festival circuit. He is also venturing into features, with his full-length script Living Breathing recently receiving development funding from Screen Australia.
Already internationally recognised for his comedic and cinematic sensibilities, Scott Pickett now moves to Los Angeles to take on the next wave of exciting filmmaking opportunities with Über Content. Welcoming him to the team is Owner/Executive Producer Preston Lee, who says, “Scott's work is obviously funny but what makes it memorable, and what made me jump at a chance to work with him, is that he is a consummate storyteller.” The passion and spirit for creating memorable narratives is mutual, remarks Scott, “They have a fantastic roster, with such a mix of styles and formats. Obviously, Über is established enough to have respect and credibility, yet they still are very hungry and fresh and on the rise. They seemed to be able to pinpoint the strengths in my work better than I was! Oh, and they seemed quite on board with my goal to take over the world.”
