Santander Launches Major New Campaign

“You play, you save. You spray, you save. Stay in bed all day, you save”

 

 
 
Santander has launched its biggest and most widespread advertising and marketing campaign ever in support of the launch of its innovative new 123 Current Account which pays in-credit interest and cashback on bills, and the Major ISA paying a market-leading 4% with a bonus if Rory McIlroy wins a major golf tournament in the next two years.
 
The campaign kicked off on the evening of Sunday 4 March with the first 60-second ‘save when you spend, save when you don’t’ television advert airing simultaneously across major TV channels, launching the new 123 Current Account.
 
The adverts feature real people in everyday walks of life and illustrate how all these people could save money, with a voice-over saying, “You play, you save. You spray, you save. Stay in bed all day, you save,” before announcing these savings can be made with the new 123 Current Account, paying in-credit interest and cashback.
 
From 8 March another set of similar adverts will air promoting the new Major ISA, an innovative savings product paying a market-leading 4% as well as a 0.1% bonus if Santander-sponsored world number 1 golfer Rory McIlroy wins any of the major golf tournaments during the two-year term of the ISA.  
 
This new creative approach will also be used as the basis for a brand new TV advert from 18 of March for the 123 Credit Card, which when taken in combination with the 123 Current Account offers customers the opportunity to save up to £1,000 a year in cashback and interest.
 
Keith Moor, marketing director at Santander, said: “This is a massive new campaign for Santander, signifying a step change in the competitive position of the bank in the market.  It also demonstrates that we are reaching out to British people with relevant, meaningful products that will deliver real savings to them, especially during tough times.
 
“This was also a campaign delivered at breakneck pace. Inception to delivery happened over a course of just 10 weeks.” 
 
The campaign is the first mass market campaign led by Euro RSCG, which joined Santander's roster at the beginning of 2011. The production company is Knucklehead and the director Siri Bunford.
 
On Monday 5 March, Santander is also launching a simple to use online calculator which customers can personalise to their own household bills and spending to see how much they could save in a year.
