If you’re a dedicated runner, you’re no stranger to the post-run beer. A way to celebrate after a tough race, relax with friends after a training session or just wind down after your weekend long run. Making it an established ritual of running culture.
That’s why Craft decided to team up with the Swedish brewery Spike, to make the ultimate post run beer. By optimising it with all the extra nutrition's, minerals and vitamins that your body need to recover in the best possible way.
The beer was created together with creative agency Forsman & Bodenfors and launched during UTMB, the world’s biggest trail-running event. It will tour other future running races and events.
Mimmi Kotka, MsC molecular nutrition, sports nutritionist, Ultra Runner said, "Is beer a good recovery drink after a run? Alcohol is not ideal for recovery or athletic performance, as it offers no nutritional value in that regard. However, beer is relatively low in alcohol and packed with lots of nutrition. This, together with the calories might be precisely what the body needs as they are essential for supporting training adaptations and recovery. Moreover, the social aspect of sharing a beer, along with the camaraderie of friends, good times, and delicious food, should not be underestimated in terms of its contribution to recovery. Nourishing the soul is just as vital as nourishing the body."
The beer, suitably named Craft Beer is packed with extra B vitamins (such as B6, niacin, riboflavin and folate), minerals (including potassium, magnesium and phosphorus), and dietary fibre. It also contains antioxidants like flavonoids and polyphenols which contribute to overall well-being.
Niklas Moberg, head of brand at Craft Sportswear, "We’re all about supporting runners and running culture as much as possible. Sometimes it’s by making the best possible shoes and gear, sometimes it’s about sponsoring great athletes, and sometimes it’s about maximising the experience for the ones who enjoy a post run beer."
