As an industry, when it comes to the content we create for our clients, we hold it to an impossibly high bar. And yet, every holiday season, we seem to just slap our logos on trivial things like flasks, mugs, or other tchotchkes and send them out as gifts. If we’re being honest, we can do better. Especially since most of these gifts end up in a landfill, which is becoming an ever-increasing issue.
So, RPA set out to create a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the things that make advertising a hilarious industry to be in during the holidays. Especially since a lot of companies are still not in-person and are missing out on some of the everyday tropes that give the Adsmas season its magic.
A Very Merry Adsmas, Volume I, is RPA’s gift to its industry friends for the ’22 holiday season. It’s a collection of advertising-based holiday songs, written, performed, recorded, and produced by RPA employees. What started out as a single song turned into six, which grew into a Spotify channel, which became a limited-edition release on vinyl, which called for its own promo video, also written, directed, shot, and created in-house. The fact that so many RPAers gave up their free time to create it is the perfect reminder that the real gift is that we get to work with so many first-rate people who continue to redefine what it means to put people first.
So, here it is, RPA's attempt not just to give this season, but to give better.
