Undivided Creative have been thrilled to announce a new Artist to the Undivided roster: Renée Rodenkirchen. Renée is a renowned Toronto based artist whose famed photography and directing work has gained international success in the fashion and entertainment world, including brands such as CHANEL, W Hotels, Mercedes Benz, Sephora, Lululemon, GQ, InStyle Billboard and O Magazine. Renée has also shot with a long list of iconic personalities including the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Quest Love - just to name a few.
Renée's visual approach is highly stylised and often the result of her unique conceptual imagination - not to mention her beautiful use of colour and tireless hands-on approach when creating sets and stunning conceptual art pieces that sets her apart from other artists. Renée is a dreamer whose sense of carefree whimsy is extremely evident in her work as she implements this wild imagination into her visuals. There is a charming quirkiness that shines throughout her work, creating a levity that is often so essential when shooting ads.
Renée comes from a family of artists - her father being an art director and mother who is a writer. The pair owned a boutique ad agency themselves, so being on commercial sets was a familiar setting while Renée grew up. She also owned and operated a production company for many years and through this constant exposure, a love for image creation had become ingrained in her. During her younger years, Renée found that she developed a special focus on portraiture that had piqued her interests. She fell in love with the art form and with creating in a highly collaborative environment. True expression of her deep creativity and imagination shines through in everything she touches, but is most apparent in her music videos as seen in her work for musical artist Ralph, where we’re able to see a true glimpse into her deep rooted passion for costume, set design, and storytelling through hyper-stylised visuals.
Renee said, “I love bringing out people’s personalities on camera in fun and vibrant ways. Directing has allowed me to explore more storytelling and create worlds from my imagination. So photo and motion kind of do different things for me, which is why I’ve never been able to commit to just one or the other. As an artist I see myself as someone who brings to life a playful, stylised and quirky interpretation of the world."
