Rangers Football Club has released a Christmas advert starring fans alongside players past and present in a coming together that demonstrates the club is one big family.
Seven of the current men’s first team including captain James Tavernier and goalkeeper Jack Butland appear with three of the women’s squad and five Rangers legends. Alongside Paul Gascoigne, Rangers heroes Kenny Miller, Barry Ferguson, John Brown, and Marvin Andrews all featured as part of the festivities.
Created by agency Boldspace, the campaign sees the Rangers stars appear alongside a granddad, father and children throughout their Christmas preparations. The players help the family get ready for Christmas, from decorating the tree and arranging the table plan ‘formation’, to cooking the turkey and even doing the washing up. The production conveys the importance of togetherness for the Glasgow-based Scottish giants.
The ad culminates with the entrance of Paul, who enters the room holding so many Rangers-wrapped presents that he can’t be seen, with the granddaughter lifting the top gift to reveal Gazza’s face to cheers from around the table. The scene pans out and moves outside, revealing a message in frosted glass: ‘This Christmas, It’s Rangers All The Way’.
Karim Virani, chief commercial officer at Rangers Football Club, said, “The connection we have with our supporters is fundamental, and our people and culture are the bedrocks of our success. Players, staff and fans truly are one big extended family and we wanted to convey that in a playful way that brought together some of today’s stars with legends of old, all of whom continue to play an important part in making Rangers the great club it is today. The end result is a Christmas production that absolutely hits the mark and brings a little bit of extra joy to Rangers fans around the globe this festive season.”
Nick Ford-Young, co-CEO at Boldspace, said, “Rangers is a club with a truly rich heritage and the strength of togetherness throughout the organisation was obvious from the moment we started working with the team. The merging of fans, current players and past legends was central to demonstrating this deep-rooted culture the club has, while joining the nostalgia of old with the excitement of today has created a production we knew would resonate with fans young and old across both men’s and women’s teams.”
Boldspace worked alongside production company Orillo to create the spot.
