Mothers don’t always have it easy, far from it, and this is a theme used in March’s ad of the month. This charming spoken word ad, Petals and Prickles from The Body Shop, acknowledges the tough parts of the job in a way that makes you smile.
Because being a parent is not a walk in the park, the realistic sentiments well crafted within the poem will ring true for the carers of many teenagers. Biting your lip when words fly, accepting the “occasional” sharp use of tongues with enduring love support, are highlighted in this ‘love note’ to mums everywhere. Even the quirks such as “the things that you just know” makes you smile knowingly as someone who knows what it is to be a mum and who can remember back to their own treatment of their parent.
With a plethora of deals for flowers, chocolates and the promises of Sunday roasts, it’s even rather touching that the ad rounds off with “Celebrate Mother’s Days with the Body Shop”.

The script:
A love note to mums everywhere, from The Body Shop.
Thank you for the love,
For the petals, and for the prickles.
Thank you for being strong,
So I can be strong when I have to be.
Thank you for the thick skin when my words fly,
For the warm grip and for biting your lip,
For picking me up,
For dusting me down,
For the things you just know.
Thank you for all of this mum,
For everything.
Celebrate Mother’s Day, with The Body Shop.
