According to a survey by Deezer The average listener stops discovering new music – entering a kind of ‘musical paralysis’ where they listen to the same songs and genres repeatedly – at 30 years old.
This is very true! Also I’m way over 30!! I really do try, I click on Spotify suggestions, I try at least twice a week to listen to something new and flick back my musical 'blinkers'. I take recommendations from people and follow up on them by streaming an album or two. And occasionally, just occasionally, I do discover something and then obsess about it 'till I can listen to it no more. A bit like getting the CD and reading the inlet book over and over and over.
But alas… returning to the '80s every time is the pattern. The good feelings it brings, the memories, the ability to remember lyrics for a Climie Fisher track that you forgot you knew so well. And of course conjuring up that songs performance mimed so tragically on Top of the Pops.
But today, let’s revel in the '80s. Lets crimp the hair or wear that sweatband you got free with smash hits. Let Scimitar Sound take you back with this feelgood playlist.
