Radio LBB: Music Discovery as a Ray of Hope

Well, it’s been just over a year now. And what a year it’s been! A year of quarantines, isolation, working from home, etc for most all of us. If the various Radio LBB playlists over this period are any indication, music has been helping a lot of people through all of this. 

Whether it’s the thrill of finding new up-and-coming artists or the comfort we find in songs we’ve loved for years, music has been a salve for many of us.

For me, as much as it’s been a bit of both, what has really kept me going has been the exploring, the deep dives. Digging into the catalogues of artists looking for hidden gems or those forgotten deep cuts. What may have been crate digging in any normal year, turned into something more digital this past year. These new-to-me discoveries over the last year are the songs that make up this playlist.

These songs are culled from anywhere and everywhere. Film, advertising, friends, peers. Twitter, Instagram, TikTok. Keeping an eye and ear out for something exhilarating I haven’t heard before has helped keep me inspired.

Hopefully there will be some tracks here that may be new discoveries for you and provide some hope that the good days are indeed coming.
