I started making playlists for specific moods during lockdown. “dancing in the living room” “driving with the windows down” and “feeling like screaming” were some of my favourites. But the first one that started it all was the cooking jams one. Like many people in lockdown, I became obsessed with cooking. Music goes with many activities but there’s something comforting and wholesome about chopping up vegetables to funk, soul or salsa tunes.
A lot of these songs are my all time favourite classics before recently starting as a sync marketing coordinator at Concord. Sylvester, Brenton Wood, The Temprees and Creedence Clearwater Revival became pleasant surprises. Getting to know the catalogue these past couple weeks, I’ve been really into The Record Company, Yola and Valerie June’s newest album, The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers.
Since it’s getting colder in the winter months and people are staying in more, or maybe you’re hosting some friends for dinner: here’s some tunes to cook to.
