A mere seven days into the new year, The Weeknd dropped his new album Dawn FM, a fine concoction of synth-pop, disco, funk and 80s new wave that serves as the perfect sequel to his 2020 banger of an LP, After Hours. Excitingly it’s also a concept album, which is a refreshing experience in today’s conveyor belt of hit singles that come and go.
Aside from being a stunningly-well produced album, Dawn FM, is a real testament to the infinite sounds and textures that can be created on a synthesizer.
For this Radio LBB, I wanted to show the almighty synthesizer the love and appreciation it so rightfully deserves by selecting some records that fully harness the power of the synth and place it front and centre within a song’s production.
