Meyy Taps Lacuna Studios for Hypnotising New Single 'Famous'

'Famous' is Meyy’s first single after her successful debut EP 'Spectrum' for which she won the Redbull Elektropedia Award for Most Promising Artist. With 'Famous', Meyy takes a mature and experimental direction, expressing her emotions and experiences in an intriguing, almost hypnotizing way. 

'Famous' addresses an ex-lover who puts his relationship aside because he wants to chase money and fame and doesn’t think his girlfriend fits this picture. The heartbreak that comes with the feeling of not being enough to somebody is very personal, yet highly recognisable for many. 

Meyy says: "I wrote 'Famous' in one evening after lowkey getting my heart broken. I needed to express the way I felt, to cope with the emotions through music. I didn’t even have the intention of really 'making a song'. I love when that happens, when a track comes from that place. There is a powerful fragility that comes with it. Even though this song talks about a very specific situation, I think other people will still connect with the emotions you can feel in the melodies, the desperateness and the universal brittle feeling of never being ‘enough’ for someone".

With its seductive slow beat and autotuned melody, 'Famous' references the musical vision of pioneers like Kanye West, with nods to the production cues of The Weeknd and 070Shake, without losing that unique, soulful voice that allows Meyy to stand out from the crowd.To accompany the song’s bold and introspective deep dive, Meyy has tapped multi-disciplinary Art Direction platform Lacuna Studios to bring the song to life in the form of a music video. 

Director Lars Moereels on the collaboration: "After hearing 'Famous' for the first time we immediately visualized a circular movement, the never-ending duality of love, 
followed by the need to equalize the ego, the freedom to be whatever you want, at any stage in love. That’s the feeling we translated into a visual experience for Meyy’s music video. Working with Meyy feels like a true symbiosis. 
The mutual respect and trust create a family-like bound. We’re honored to see this uncut gem rising. We are beyond excited!"
