ProdCo welcomes Abdou Cissé to their roster, representing him across the US, UK, and Amsterdam markets. Abdou is a BAFTA-nominated and award-winning writer, director, and creative from South London. He gained recognition with his directorial debut, Serious Tingz (2019), which won Best Narrative Short at the Shiny Awards and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award (BIFA). The film was showcased at several festivals, including Raindance and the BFI London Film Festival, and was featured on platforms like ITV News and Tate Modern.
In 2023, Abdou released Festival of Slaps, a Black British short film that’s a comedic love letter to African Mothers. The film received critical acclaim, winning the Audience Award for Best British Film at the BFI London Film Festival and securing a BAFTA nomination.
Transitioning to television, Abdou made his directorial debut with the BBC series Grime Kids (2023), written by Theresa Ikoko. The series explores the origins of the grime music scene in the UK.
Abdou built a successful career in advertising, creating award-winning campaigns for brands such as Apple, Nike, and Google. Most recently, he directed a comedy piece for Green Flag, created with VCCP. The spot follows a man stranded in the wilderness with no phone signal, preparing for the worst - unaware that Green Flag’s roadside assistance via satellite has already got him covered.
Abdou is currently developing his feature debut, Voice of Reason, in collaboration with BBC Film. The satirical comedy follows a far-right UK political campaigner who, after an accident, finds himself influenced by the voice of a self-righteous Rastafarian.
