Pretzel Films are on the hunt for the big directors tomorrow – today. The production company has launched a competition for aspiring filmmakers and the winner will be awarded with a full-time job as a junior director.
“This is in keeping with our ethos of mentoring and nurturing the next generation of directorial talent, unique in production companies in the UK as we take on all our directors full time. We're bucking the trend in a time of economic crisis by putting our money where our mouths are,” explains Pretzel’s Pippa Hall.
It’s not the first time the company has shown such commitment to supporting new talent – since 2005 they’ve taken on one junior director every year. This year however, shortlisted entrants will be given a platform for their work as they will be invited to present their film at a showcase at Pretzel HQ.
Entrants should submit one film and a biography of no more than 50 words to the company’s Facebook page. Only recent graduates and those who have worked in the industry for less than a year will be eligible. The deadline for entries is March 1st, and the showcase will take place on March 20th and 21st.
