Melissa Weber, head of HR operations

How do you explain what you do to your family/friends? 

I lead people systems and processes so that the wildly talented humans I work with can feel supported to create amazing things. I also ‘speak’ health insurance and 401(k). 

How do you start your day?

With gratitude and a cup of coffee.

What’s on your desk right now? 

Several notebooks, a Costco-sized container of mixed nuts for snacking (gotta have snacks), my water bottle, and my son’s Bakugan that I fidget with during meetings.

What would you be doing if you didn’t work in the creative industry?

Probably working with kids. Not sure I have the patience to be a teacher, but my sons are always reminding me that you don’t have to take life so seriously. I love that mindset.

What film, TV show or piece of online content do you love that no one else seems to like?

Pink Panther with Steve Martin and Beyonce. How can you go wrong with that duo?

How do you apply your creative skills to another area of your life?

It’s inspiring working around so many makers and creators! I channel that into cold-process soap making. 

What’s your biggest hot take?

You don’t need a special occasion to eat cake. You’re an adult, just buy the cake.
