Pinterest partners with creative agency Funworks on 'Gift Like You Get Them'

When it comes to gifting for the holiday season, the last thing anyone wants is to give (or get!) a bad gift. On November 7th, Pinterest released a new holiday campaign to put an end to bad gifting, one present at a time.

The campaign, titled 'Gift Like You Get Them', shows how people can use simple Pinterest features like Boards and Search to be a better gifter. Through research and social listening we found that great gifters have a “cheat code” for better gifting: just take a peek at their loved one’s Pinterest boards, or type their interests into Search and click “Shop” to find the perfect gift.

Pinterest partnered with creative agency Funworks to help bring this work to life in a way that’s both humorous and lighthearted. With five spots running on social, programmatic online video and connected TV, the campaign introduces all-too-common “bad gifter” personas and shows how with a little thought (and help from Pinterest), even the worst offenders can find a gift that truly says, 'I get you'.

On platform, Pinterest engaged creators like Haley Plotkin (Ready Set Jet Set), Shifa Jiwani (Sincerely Shifa) and Shola Jinadu (MEDEAIJ) to use Idea Pins to tell their stories of how Pinterest features like Boards and Search become “hacks” for great gifting.

Shopping on Pinterest is different––it’s not just about transacting, it’s about the magic of browsing, discovery and finding inspiration on the way to buying. Pinterest is the place for planners where shoppers historically get a head start on holiday gifting, with 8 in 10 Pinners saying Pinterest is a great place for gift ideas.

Andréa Mallard, chief marketing officer at Pinterest, says: “Nothing feels better than nailing a gift like you really get someone, but not everyone has the special gifting talent. Chances are, the right gift is hiding in plain sight on Pinterest, so consider this campaign a public service announcement for stressed out gifters in need of a solid lead.”
