Love is in the air, and Valentine’s Day isn’t the only thing to blame. The Philadelphia Flyers’ infamous mascot, Gritty, teamed up with Dietz & Watson for an activation that is sure to make everyone feel the love this February 14th.
Creatively developed and planned by Red Tettemer O’Connell + Partners (RTO+P), Dietz & Watson has partnered up with the Philadelphia Flyers to commission three Philly-based artists to create one-of-a-kind renderings of Philly’s beloved mascot in three unique Valentine’s Day cards. Each card will capture Gritty posed with his D&W favourites, including: 'Gritty’s Meaty Heart', 'Gritty with Hoagie' and 'Gritty With Meat Roses'.
On a first come, first serve basis, those who sign up for these uniquely story-lined cards will be sent cards in the mail, right in time for Valentine’s Day.
The activation officially went live today on February 6th and will run while supplies last - so go and claim your Dietz and Watson Valentine’s Day card at DietzandWatson.com/Gritty.
In addition to the cards, D&W will share the love on Twitter and Instagram leading up to Valentine’s Day to give everyone a chance to see these meaty, cheesy, Gritty masterpieces.
“It’s not every day that you see a 7-foot orange, furry creature holding a bouquet of salami roses,” said Steve Red, president and co-chief creative officer of RTO+P. “Flowers and chocolates are basic. Quality meats and cheeses from Dietz & Watson are the new way to your signif’s heart.”
“We’re thrilled to be engaging with a team close to Philly’s heart to showcase Dietz & Watson this Valentine’s Day,” said Lauren Eni Canseco, EVP of brand strategy at Dietz & Watson. “We’re excited to see fans of both hockey and deli meat to share the Gritty Love this year. Go Flyers!”
