Music connects, it makes us grow and explore ourselves. It influences and moves us.
And it always comes with personal stories. That’s why we are so honoured to speak to our industry’s peers about it, such as Juliana Constantino from Pereira O’Dell New York. She opened up about her very personal connection to music and introduces us to one of her most memorable musical projects.
Q> Please tell us your name and what you do professionally
Juliana> My name is Juliana Constantino, and I am executive creative director at Pereira O’Dell.
Q> Can you tell us about your first truly memorable musical experience and how it impacted you. Why do you remember it so clearly?
Juliana> I was tiny, but I remember the first time when a sound made me cry in the middle of a movie. I was watching ET in 1982. I remember being in the movie theater and being fascinated - and also a little scared at the same time -, when I noticed that my eyes were full of tears. My parents asked if I wanted to leave, but I said “no”, and watched the whole thing.
Q> Give us an insight into the most memorable project you executed and how music played a role in it?
Juliana> Sometimes the funniest projects I’ve worked on happen to have my favourite taylor-made soundtrack. It was a commercial we’ve done for Nivea Men, when the brand first brought their product line to Brazil. The commercial was more a piece of entertainment, and the soundtrack had a groove that set the tone.
LBB> Did you, or do you play an instrument? Is there someone who had a powerful influence on your musical life?
Juliana> I learned how to play the guitar, but lately I fell in love with a Canadian band called Rush, and I had to learn the Bass. I liked taking the lessons, but I always wished it was easier. I mean, what if I could feel ready to perform without so much practice. Also, I took singing lessons for about 3 years. That helped me a lot to be a little less introverted.
