Outsider has announced the signing of British director James Lees for UK commercial representation.
After a childhood in theatre James transferred his skills to film, shooting his very first short The Apology Line to much acclaim and numerous best film awards. Two more award winning short films followed, with Pockets named one of the top ten short documentaries ever made by Channel 4.
This soon led to representation in the US with Doomsday and directing music videos for some of the world’s biggest and most respected artists including OneRepublic, Justin Bieber, Lil Dicky and Bloc Party, amassing 3 billion views collectively.
James has directed commercial campaigns for respected brands such as Beats by Dre, Converse, BBC and Bacardi, and is a regular contributor to the fashion, art and culture online platform Nowness.
On him joining the family, Outsider said: “James’ work showcases extraordinary depth. His films are richly imaginative, cinematically beautiful, and command powerful performances, and often all at once. Promos and shorts have been his playground in amassing an impressive body of work so far, but clearly he has so much more to give and we can’t wait to open up the UK to his unique talent.”
