OkayStudio has strengthened its production department with the appointment of David Thomas as head of production and Athene Aristocleous as producer.
David joins from a five year stint at The&Partnership, having been head of post production for over three years. Prior to this, he spent two years at The Mill. Athene joins from Glassworks where she brings with her five years of post production experience. Both David and Athene will report into executive producer Josh Sanders and founder and MD Nikolaj Belzer.
David comments: “Having followed OkayStudio for a number of years, I’m thrilled to be on board. It’s an energising moment to be joining as we expand our team and set our sights on an ambitious year ahead. I'm joining a solid production offering here, and having worked both sides of the coin, at The Mill and then inside agencies, I bring with me a different lens to production problem solving and innovation. With my VFX background, I’ll be working with the team on those opportunities where we can push creative ambition even further. I’m looking forward to what’s to come.”
Athene comments: “I’ve had my eye on OkayStudio for a while before joining and have been a fan of the creative and exciting work they have produced. I feel like I’ve joined the family at a very exciting time as we continue to expand our team with like-minded souls and artists. The office has been full of hustle and bustle since the day I joined and I look forward to bringing my VFX knowledge from Glassworks to the team. Watch this space!’’
Nikolaj Belzer, founder and MD of OkayStudio, adds: “David and Athene have been on our talent radar for some time. I am thrilled we have convinced them to come on board at this vital point in OkayStudio’s history as we take on even bigger and more exciting projects. Athene’s years of experience in colour and visual effects paired with her being incredibly personable is exactly what we need to strengthen the core production team. When it comes to filling a new role such as head of production, this was always about finding someone that brings a wealth of experience but also curiosity and creativity. With David, we’ve probably found one of the brightest talents around, particularly when it comes to running an end-to-end post production set up. He has risen to be a head of production at such a young age, dealing with the biggest clients and projects there are. Both hires underline our commitment to offering premium work in a small and personable setting that gives room for maximum creativity on each project.”
Josh Sanders, executive producer at OkayStudio, comments: “It’s testament to our ambition and commitment that we’re able to invest in people of David and Athene’s calibre. From our initial conversations we knew both would fit the fabric of the company. Not only are they incredibly talented and hard working individuals, but they share the same values and passion for creating as the rest of the team. Athene has already stepped into several high profile projects and the pressure has never shown. She constantly adds value and provides that friendly pillar of support that every client deserves. David gives us that extra layer of protection and production expertise allowing us to scale up the complexity of the projects we undertake. His client service skills are second to none and his industry connections allow us to flex beyond our previous capabilities. Both hires have solidified our production presence, allowing us to build on the exceptional work we are now producing, and heighten the service we are able to offer our clients from initial contact to delivery.’’
