Luxury luggage brand Rimowa commissioned a series of films to mark the 80th anniversary of their iconic aluminium suitcase, with London post house OKAY STUDIO handling the editing, colour and finish.
Creative direction came from brand consultancy Amazing Future, and the films, directed by German photographer Frank Hülsbömer, feature cases belonging to real Rimowa customers - and seasoned travellers - including Carine Roitfeld, Virgil Abloh and David Fincher.
"The idea was to focus on what people do with Rimowa suitcases rather than what the suitcases do. We wanted to let their suitcases become their portraits, to tell us a story through each dent, scratch and sticker," said Rimowa’s Chief Brand Officer Hector Muelas.
OKAY STUDIO’s Nikolaj Belzer handled the edit. "The challenge was to bring out the character of each case” he said. “We delivered almost two hundred versions for a wide variety of platforms and it was important in each film for the subjects to be distinctive and to work as films, not just stills with movement.”
The grade was by OKAY STUDIO’s Senior Colourist, Ludovic Roussaux, who commented “The stills campaign carried a very distinctive look and the challenge was to use the feel that had been built in stills post-production, while accentuating the distinctive aspects of each case’s story filmically.”
