Ogilvy Colombia proudly stands as the first Colombian agency to be featured on TIME's Best Inventions List. The 2024 instalment of the list recognised 'Filter Caps' as one of the year’s ground breaking innovations that are changing lives. For over twenty years, TIME editors have chosen the most impactful new products and ideas worldwide, considering key factors such as originality, effectiveness, ambition, and impact.
'Filter Caps' addresses a crucial global challenge: the lack of access to safe drinking water in many communities. It is the first 100% biodegradable device designed to recover and mineralise water, making it safe for consumption. This initiative sets new standards for sustainability and technological innovation, featuring a universal design, portability, and ease of use. Additionally, it has gained support from reputable institutions such as Baylor International and the Colombian Red Cross, enhancing its potential impact.
"We are proud to have created Filter Caps. It is truly gratifying to witness the impact we're making, and the people we are affecting in meaningful ways. We are excited about what is yet to come. Being the only Colombian agency in history chosen by TIME to be part of this iconic list reinforces our belief in creativity's incredible transformative power and an ongoing pursuit of innovation. Filter Caps is not just another idea; it is an initiative that embodies our approach to work here at Ogilvy Colombia,” comments Fabio Quiroga CEO of Ogilvy Colombia.
Gastón Potasz, chief creative officer of Ogilvy Colombia, emphasised the importance of this achievement, “Being recognised on the TIME Best Inventions List is a great honour because it acknowledges the value of the entire creative process involved in developing Filter Caps - from its conception to its practical application. Filter Caps is not based on existing technology; rather, it reflects the talent, strength, and commitment of a dedicated team of professionals who have worked tirelessly to bring this unique and remarkable technological device to life. Only 200 projects out of thousands worldwide are selected, and we are proud to be one of them!”
