Food-waste fighting fruit and veg delivery service Oddbox has appointed Hell Yeah! as its above the line creative agency, as the startup looks to encourage more people to join its mission.
Oddbox is a mission-led start-up that rescues the 'too odd' and 'too many' fruit and veg at risk of going to waste. It partners directly with growers to take this surplus and odd fruit and veg and delivers its boxes to customers across the country, preventing it from going to waste and creating a positive, measurable positive impact on water use, carbon and waste reduction.
Oddbox was founded in 2016 and grew six-fold in 2020 alone. It has raised £19m in funding across 2020 and 2021 to further its impact.
The brand is already well-known in London and delivering to most cities across England and Wales.
Hell Yeah! will be creating a strategy and major ad campaign to replicate its success, and help the brand meet its ambitious growth targets - delivering to more subscribers, and having a positive impact on the planet. A TV ad will lead the campaign, launching in the coming months.
Emilie Vanpoperinghe, co-founder of Oddbox, said: “We have an ambitious vision: a world where all food grown is eaten. To do that we need to drive impact at scale – in a big way. Food waste is a huge climate issue. Around 40% of all food grown is wasted – this means all the water and energy that went into producing it is also wasted. According to the Drawdown Project, fighting food waste is the number one solution to reverse the climate crisis and stop the planet from getting 2°C warmer by the year 2100.
“On top of that, people are struggling with the rising cost of living. Helping people make their veg go further and minimise food waste in their kitchens is a win win. Hell Yeah!’s strategy, creative and positive attitude mean we know we’re going to get a message out there that cuts through and brings people on board with our mission.”
Josh Clarricoats, managing partner at Hell Yeah! Added: “Oddbox’s mission is strong, simple and straightforward. Buying from them is one of a perfect win-win, where consumers get something great, easy and delicious, and the planet wins too. Their growth ambitions are good news for people and the planet, and we can’t wait to create an amazing creative campaign that will propel them to national fame and beyond.”
