Culture-defining production company Fela has produced a new long-form ad, directed by Shaun Collings, in an homage to classic music documentaries.
Starring the beloved Muppet rock and roll band, The Electric Mayhem, the film follows their heartwarming antics after arriving at Spotify to record their next hit single. Along the way they meet actor/comedian Bobby Moynihan, rapper Rico Nasty, singer/songwriter Ashnikko, and musician Orville Peck; and like any band making its comeback, the extended ad follows Dr. Teeth, Janice, Animal, and the others, discovering all that Spotify has to offer, including the bottomless free snacks.
Said Collings: "I honestly was thrilled to work with The Electric Mayhem, but I was also a bit nervous as well, having never worked with the Muppets before. However, once they stepped on set it was a wave of joyous emotions. The entire Muppet team are magicians. I went up and spoke to each band member just like any actor and surprisingly enough it felt incredibly natural. It truly was a dream come true. "
The new Muppets Mayhem episodic series was released on May 10, 2023, on Disney Plus.
