On Monday, December 21st, Mullen Lowe Group US
sent out its holiday card for 2015. The ‘One Card For All’ was not only sent to
the usual suspects – friends, production houses, consultants and reporters –
but actually sent to everyone, yes
all 7,388,223,600 inhabitants of Earth. And that number only increases by the
second. Using an algorithm that is able to access every name on the planet,
Mullen Lowe Group US was able to wish every one of them a happy, joyous holiday
and new year.
It’s all encompassing and heartfelt, driving home an important theme of the holiday season itself – to show kindness, care and compassion to everyone around you, regardless of ethnicity, religion or geographic location.
Mullen Lowe Group US, the agency of record for American Greetings, describes the effort: "Overall, the website is a tranquil, animated experience. As new names appear, visitors can watch them fall, like snowflakes, onto a stylized world map. Users can also find their own name and see it as part of the world collective. At the end of the day, we are all one people. And so it seemed only right to create one card for all. To do this, we built a site around an algorithm that will generate a holiday greeting to each and every person on the planet. All 7.3 billion and counting.”
