MPC’s New York studio has announced that Tim Crean has been appointed as head of 2D, after he joined the studio as a VFX supervisor in 2018. The addition of Julien Aucouturier also marks another boost to the studio’s burgeoning 2D department, which recently announced the addition of three senior artists and a deputy head of 2D.
Tim, who is a well-established VFX artist in the community, brings with him over 20 years of experience in visual effects, motion graphics, design and experiential projects. In addition to working as a senior artist in different creative studios in Amsterdam and New York, he also co-founded award-winning boutique content studio SUSPECT in 2003, which worked with global brands such as Hewlett Packard, Time Warner Cable, SAP, Vimeo, Samsung, and Calvin Klein.
“I’m very excited about my new role at the studio,” Tim said. He added, “The past six months at MPC have been amazing, working on some incredible campaigns, and I’m looking forward to working on more great projects and continuing to help drive the studio forward even further.”
Angela Lupo, managing director, MPC New York, said of Tim's new role: “Tim’s incredible knowledge of the industry and vast experience makes him the perfect person to lead our 2D division here in New York. Our team could not be in better hands with him leading the way, and I’m confident that he will be able to strengthen our creative offering even further.”
Julien, who has worked with acclaimed directors including Peter Lindbergh, Solve Sundsbo, Craig Gillespie and Traktor, has worked on a variety of award-winning projects such as feature film I, Tonya directed by Craig Gillespie and the Chanel Le Bleu campaign directed by James Gray.
Angela commented: “We’re delighted to bring Julien and his strong background on board to help us continue to create the high-caliber of work that we have been delivering,” adding, “I’m confident that both Tim and Julien will greatly enhance our studio’s creative offering.”
