Misan Harriman is the first Nigerian director to receive an Oscar nomination and won the NAACP Image Award for his short film 'THE AFTER'

Misan Harriman has signed for commercial representation with Lief, the award winning production company founded by Margo Mars that has reshaped the landscape of advertising, entertainment and creative production. Known for championing boundary-pushing artistry from all backgrounds, Margo has built Lief into a powerhouse for authentic, human-centred storytelling, and a natural home for Misan’s emotive vision.

Misan, whose lens has captured defining moments of modern history, brings his singular talent to Lief’s roster of artists and creatives. The partnership signals a shared commitment to crafting stories that resonate, challenge and inspire.

“I am delighted to welcome Misan to our global roster and join forces,” said Lief’s founder Margo Mars. “Misan is a one-of-a-kind that I dream about collaborating with. The rare package of talent, vision, and presence. In a word: legend.”

“I’m very excited to be represented by Lief,” said Misan. “They are fierce allies to their artists and consistently create memorable and unflinching work. Since their formation, they have passionately used their voice and formidable talents to support the underrepresented, always striving to do the right thing. I believe the advertising and branding industry has a significant opportunity to change culture at a time when the stakes are so high. Storytellers matter, and Lief truly sees this.”

In explaining Lief’s mission, Mars continued, “Lief represents filmmakers who spend time shaping and defining today’s culture. We combine a deep understanding of the positive impact they can bring with the know-how to create a link that makes a brand’s involvement meaningful. Misan is a perfect fit, as he expands beyond his award-winning work in film and photography, and his artistry is unparalleled.”

A visionary behind the lens, polymath Misan Harriman sees the world not just as it is, but as it should be. He is the first Nigerian director to receive an Oscar nomination and won the NAACP Image Award for his short film THE AFTER. He is the first Black man to shoot the cover of British Vogue’s hallowed September issue in the publication’s century-long history. Misan’s work combines his passion for art with a burning drive for social justice, and he is a champion for diversity and inclusion, the migrant struggle, and mental health.

Lief knows brands tell stories all the time, and that they have a huge platform that can help shape society. With this latest signing, they are continuing to build a home for powerful voices creating new, culture-defining narratives.

Misan Harriman is represented by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates for Film and TV and Loo How for Photography.
