Music artist Jessica Betts’ newest music video, “Holding On,” debuts this week on BET. Shot and posted by the MindSmack team in New York, the creatively candid music video exhibits pure originality. The thematic concept of simultaneously exploring the duality of a relationship and individuality is prominent and inspirational. “Holding On” was part of BET’s Music Matters Showcase last week; and makes its world-wide premiere tomorrow night, August 21st at 6 p.m. on “106 & Park” on BET.
“This music video represents a re-birth of Jessica’s career,” explains MindSmack Executive Producer Kwesi Collisson. “The video has built two worlds that exist in the same time and different times (past/present/future). These two worlds co-exist. They aren’t battling over Jessica. However, they represent how complex her life was, is and will be in the future.” Directed by Marco Piana, the creative team at MindSmack spearheaded production of “Holding On,” orchestrating intimate settings at an upscale Soho Loft and raw oceanfront at Fort Tilden Beach, as well as completed extensive post-production for the new clip.
“It’s a love song to oneself... about the different conflicting sides of yourself and learning to hold on to all of them, because they are all part of who you are and part of what makes up the whole of you,” notes Jessica Betts. “I'm really grateful to Kwesi Collisson, Marco Piana and the entire MindSmack team. These guys were really awesome in taking my initial concept and then adding another dimension to it; and giving it a new depth and scope with visuals that so beautifully and cleanly matched my words.”
