One of the UK data world’s founding fathers, Mike Green, is advising the REaD Group board on potential business opportunities for development of the company portfolio, which is spearheaded by the Data Agency.
Mike has been instrumental in shaping the world of consumer data analytics for enhanced customer communications after setting up EuroDirect, which over time grew into CallCredit. A born entrepreneur, Mike set up his first business aged just 15, buying and reprocessing ICI’s synthetic waste from the chemical giant’s Harrogate division.
Mike established EuroDirect in 1992, after spotting the potential for geodemographic analysis of information. Two years later, John Dobson joined Mike and became managing director. With the combined entrepreneurial power of Mike and John working together one of the country’s leading companies in consumer databases, list provision and analysis was born.
They went on to sell the majority shareholding in EuroDirect to Skipton Building Society in 1998 and oversaw the development of CallCredit Information Group. Mike remained as CEO in charge of the company’s development until 2009. He stepped back from active day to day business involvement to take the role of non-executive chairman in May 2009. Under his leadership the Group had enjoyed sustained periods of significant growth. Since that time, Mike has been acting as corporate advisor to a select group of businesses including John Dobson’s new data business SmartCredit.
Mike’s appointment comes hard on the heels of the announcement that Jon Cano-Lopez, another figurehead and thought leader of the UK data establishment, has joined the organisation as CEO. Working alongside Mark Roy as chairman and the new board, the business is actively seeking new ways to apply its expertise and insight products to assist its clients in effective customer management and maximising ROI.
