Earlier this week (Monday 13th May) saw the annual Marketing Academy Scholarship ‘End of Year Ceremony’ and an opportunity for each graduating scholar to bestow an ‘Academy Award for Mentorship,’ also known as a Merlin Award, to one person of their choosing.
Brand Learning’s chief operating office, Michele McGrath received the accolade along with other mentors and speakers who have been involved in the year-long initiative.
Michele was handed her Merlin Award at the ‘End of Year Ceremony’ held at the Emirates Stadium in North London. The event was attended by over 200 ‘up and coming’ and senior marketers and was an opportunity for the Academy and Faculty Partners to say farewell to the class of 2012/13 and unveil the new scholars for 2013/14.
Academy founder, Sherilyn Shackell, says of the honour: “Here at The Marketing Academy we’re thrilled but not surprised that Michele McGrath from Brand Learning won one of our coveted Merlin Awards.
“She is an incredibly popular mentor and her insights and wisdom have really resonated with our Scholars. We consider ourselves very lucky that she donates so much of her time both personally and through Brand Learning to our scholarship programme.”
Grace Letley, media group manager at PHD and the Scholar who nominated Michele said: “Michele was a wonderful mentor who gave me practical advice that has truly inspired and guided me for my longer term career. She shared her knowledge generously and it was wonderful to learn so much from someone who has herself built an outstanding marketing career. One particular piece of advice that stood out was having the courage to make big requests during one’s career. Michele truly deserves her Merlin award.”
Brand Learning has partnered with the Marketing Academy Scholarship programme since it was founded in 2010 by Sherilyn Shackall, chairman of The Marketing Hall of Legends UK.
The Marketing Academy Scholarship identifies up to 30 of the most exceptionally talented individuals from marketing, advertising and communication, to teach them leadership skills through one-on-one mentoring, coaching and bespoke learning.
