Whether they’re getting bloodthirsty for Canal+ or guzzling White Russians, it seems that the ad industry just can’t get enough of middle-aged, white, male Hollywood stars at the moment. Particularly if they’re revisiting their most iconic roles. As my old journalism tutor used to say ‘two is a coincidence, three’s a trend’ – so check out this trio of quite brilliant gems starring some of our most favourite famous grizzled faces have been released in the past week.
White Russian
Ivan Zacharias has teamed up with Jeff Bridges to create a homage to the Big Lebowski’s favourite tipple, the White Russian. This beautifully bizarre short from agency Lucky Generals features narration from Bridges and sees him switch up the Dude role to play someone more akin to Sam Elliott’s Stranger character.
Fangs for all the films
John Malkovich brushes off his vampire fangs and rolls out his finest French for this amusing Canal+ spot that sees the ‘immortal’ actor lap up the TV and films on the CanalPlay video on demand service. Henry director Bart Timmer injects his signature chaotic comedy into creative from agency Buzzman.
‘We’re on it’
Harvey Keitel reprises his role as Winston Wolf, from Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction in a new Direct Line spot from Saatchi & Saatchi London. This time around the intimidating fixer doesn’t have any messy dead bodies to clean up – instead he helps out a bemused couple of Brits.
