Acclaimed post-production house Lost Planet welcomes editor Catherine Bull to its incredible roster of talent. Her storied career encompasses high-profile commercials, film collaborations with artists and museums, insightful documentaries, and an exemplary list of recurring collaborators.

Hailing from the Bay Area, Catherine started her career at First Edition in New York City before moving to Progressive Image Group and eventually Spot Welders in Los Angeles, where she worked for the past seventeen years. Her lyrical, poetic style and keen ear for melodic rhythms in dialogue and music are hallmarks of her thoughtfully cut films. The cadence of editorial choices in Catherine’s work provides an emotional and visual throughline in all of her work. She has worked on many films about the lives and work of artists, including LACMA’s 'Ed Ruscha, Woody, and the World’s Hottest Pepper,' from director Lance Acord, a short film about LA artist Ed Ruscha as seen through his personal spaces. Catherine has collaborated with Acord on numerous other projects, including the globally recognised Nike campaign 'Find Your Greatness,' which coincided with the 2012 Olympic games in London, England.

Catherine’s careful eye and ability to co-write unscripted stories with filmmakers have made her a highly sought-after collaborator, with work for brands including Jeep, Ford, Coca-Cola, Pandora, Nike, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Ray-Ban. She also edited several Super Bowl commercials, including Chevy’s documentary-style ad 'My Dad’s Car,' directed by long time collaborator Chris Wilcha, and Ford’s 'Stuck,' helmed by directorial duo Hoffman / Metoyer. Noted photographer and director Lauren Greenfield has also tapped Catherine to edit many of her projects, including the Tribeca Film Festival short 'Beauty CULTure' and 'Magic City,' commissioned by GQ and Condé Nast Entertainment, and 'Social Studies,' a five-part documentary series premiering 9/27 on FX/Hulu that explores the experiences of a diverse group of LA teens growing up in the age of social media. Catherine also edited the short film 'Dollhouse' from directing team Terri Timely, which tells the story of Reborn Doll enthusiasts and premiered at SXSW. Other documentary work of Catherine’s includes the essential film 'Brave Girl Rising' from the International Rescue Committee, highlighting the lives of girls living in Somali refugee camps.

Catherine Bull remarks on joining Lost Planet, saying, “I have many close friends and colleagues who’ve worked with Lost Planet and raved about how amazing they are to work with. Then, I met everyone at Lost Planet, and they were so warm and welcoming, so I knew I was in the right place. I enjoy the laid-back family vibe and am very excited by the shop’s wide-ranging body of work. I know that Lost Planet will support any creative endeavour I want to try, and I’m thrilled to join their ranks.”

Gary Ward, Lost Planet’s executive producer, adds, “I’ve been a huge fan of Catherine’s work for a long time. We’ve kept in touch over the years and I always believed she would be a great fit at Lost Planet. She’s extremely creative and a wonderful collaborator. We are excited we finally get a chance to work together.”
