Mark Burnett and Roma Downey’s production company, Lightworkers Media, approached Lola in 2012 with an exciting opportunity to take on the VFX for their forthcoming 10 episode series, “The Bible”.
The whole production was filmed in Morocco with Lola on set to supervise the VFX shots.
Back in Soho, Lola had a large 3D (XSI) and 2D (Nuke) team who created 500 outstanding shots over the course of 8 months. Liaison between these two departments was absolutely essential in the production of all finished shots.
A major technical challenge that the 3D team faced was the build and management of the vast, evolving city of Jerusalem. It was essential that the city had a character that changed - from dawn till dusk and from one year to another. Most importantly, it needed to be beautiful and epic.
“For something like this the devil is very much in the detail, and management of all our Jerusalem assets was vital - from the size of the scene to the time of day and the correct historical detailing of the shot itself,” Rhys Williams, lead CG artist.
This dramatic and historical masterpiece is transmitting on the History Channel in the US on the 3rd of March and in the UK later in the year.
