Lennart Brede’s ‘King of Underdogs’ captures the build-up to the most famous one-on-one basketball tournament in China. Last year, The King of Underdogs held more than 100 games in China, where qualifying games take place all over small towns across the country. More than 300,000 people registered, and about 3,000 people participated. There are no restrictions on who can play: the game belongs to everyone regardless of experience, age or ability.
Shot on location in Shanghai, this powerful, suspense-building film, captures the excitement for the Grand Finale (which unfortunately was postponed due to Covid-19).
