LBBonline, the news and networking resource for the international creative community, is kick-starting the new year with the appointment of Laura Swinton as Global Editor.
Laura will be working closely with founder and MD Matt Cooper to grow and develop editorial content and evolve the LBB brand.
“What I love about working with LBB is the sense of community and the democratic, fluid approach to creativity. It means there’s room for everything from a quirky music video or basic TV ad to cutting-edge technology. This year I really want to strengthen that spirit. I want to use this new role to give back to the international advertising and production communities by highlighting the issues they’re facing,” said Laura.
Laura joined LBBOnline as a staff writer in 2012 and was quickly promoted to Deputy Editor. She previously worked at Shots where she was News Editor, and has written for industry publications such as Promo (now promonews.tv), 1.4, The Young Directors Award, and the Beak Street Bugle. As well as experience covering creative innovation, advertising agencies, production companies and brands, Laura also has degrees in Chinese and Politics, Psychology and Magazine Journalism, giving her a unique perspective of the evolving, globalised creative landscape.
“Laura has been with us for just over 18 months and in that time has become an invaluable member of our team. And I’m so excited that she is now the editor. What is so exciting about working with Laura is that her knowledge, understanding and love for advertising doesn’t just sit within one category. That is just so important to LBB,” said LBB founder Matt Cooper.
As Laura takes the role of Global Editor, she will be supported by Addison Capper who has also been promoted to Deputy Editor. The pair will be working closely to develop new kinds of content for the site.
The news of Laura’s promotion comes ahead of more developments at LBBonline, which will be announced soon.
“2014 looks set to be an exciting year for LBB – there are a lot of changes on the cards both editorially and in the business,” said Laura. “Like Matt and the rest of the fantastic LBB family, I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
